TEACHING EXPERIENCE AND RELATED:

Student Teacher, Birch Lane Elementary School, Davis Joint Unified School District, Davis, CA. Student taught in a multicultural, ethnically diverse third/fourth grade  Montessori classroom. Worked with individual and small groups of children. Ran literacy circles, and math groups. Led special presentations, which addressed the CA state standards in science and social studies and integrated technology. (4/06 6/06)

Student Teacher/Substitute Teacher, Silveyville Primary School, Dixon Unified School District, Dixon, CA. Student taught in a culturally diverse, SEI full-day kindergarten class. Planned and implemented lessons that addressed CA state standards and complemented the Houghton-Mifflin core curriculum. Administered assessments. Worked with whole class, small groups and individual students. Modified lessons to assist EL and special needs students. Researched and implemented a letter identification intervention for an at-risk EL student. Attended staff and grade-level meetings, and parent conferences. (8/05 – 3/06)

Teaching Assistant Intern, North Davis Elementary School, Davis Joint Unified School District, Davis, CA.  Volunteered in a multicultural, multi-linguistic third-grade classroom 10+ hours a week. Supervised small and large group activities. Taught small groups of students in the areas of math, writing and spelling. Led guided reading groups. Tutored individual students in reading, writing and mathematics. Developed and implemented an extension math program for gifted students. (9/04 – 6/05)

Teacher’s Aide, McAuliffe Elementary School, Cupertino Union School District, Cupertino, CA. Volunteered in an ethnically and culturally diverse first grade classroom. Worked with individual children and small groups of children in reading, writing, and mathematics within a thematic based instructional program.
