Jazz Art
jazz
This was an art project inspired by Jazz.  The children were given the opportunity to artistically express how they felt about this specific genre of music.  The results were amazing!  The colors, shapes, and overall aesthetics captured the true heart and soul of this music.  This porject was supplemental to the Language Arts unit the students were engaged in at the time which focused on music.
Valentine Snowflakes
snow
On Valentines Day, we made "heart snowflakes."  Essentially, the students fold pieces of paper many times over and cut shapes along the sides.  Then they open the paper to see their beautiful designs unfold.  This project provided a perfect opportunity to observe many mathematical concepts  including: fractions, symmetry, and geometry.
(Ironically, we had not had much rain yet for the season and a big storm came through as soon as we hung them up on the classroom windows.)
