Loop Around Math and Language Arts Game for Third Graders


Math Standards:
                        2.0 Students calculate and solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Language Arts Standards:       1.4  Use knowledge of antonyms, synonyms, homophones, and homographs to determine the meanings of words.
                                                          1.8  Use knowledge of prefixes (e.g., un-, re-, pre-, bi-, mis-, dis-) and suffixes (e.g., -er, -est, -ful) to determine the meaning of words.

Directions:
1.  Print out the loop around content sheets provided (one game is for math and the other is for language arts)
2.  Cut each square
3.  Hand to players

How the game is played: 
Each game consists of 20 content cards.  Distribute all of the cards to each player (one player may have more than one card).  One player will begin the cycle by reading the name (number or word) presented at the top of the card.  After the player reads the top of his/her card he/she must then read the question at the bottom of the card.  One of the other players will have the answer to that question.  That next player then reads the top of his/her card (the answer to the previous card) and then will read the question presented on his/her card.  This will be repeated several times until the cycle has been completed.
