My Family
My family made me who I am today. They are there for me when I need them but have always given me the freedom to try new things. They have taught me to value the people and places from which I am from while showing me the excitement and thrill of being out on my own. My mom has taught me to not sweat the small stuff and to take time for myself every once in a while. I think a great deal of my sense of humor and ability to show my emotions comes from my mom. She has shown me that when it comes down to it, being around loved ones is all that really matters.
I think my dad and I are a lot alike. Everything from fighting over the last piece of cherry pie to our nut allergy. My perserverance comes from my dad. He is the type of person who keeps trying  no matter what and never gives up, even when giving up would be so much easier. He has also shown me what it means to be friendly and welcoming to everyone you meet. My dad has taught me to value everyone around me and shown me what it means to be a good neighbor and citizen.
Last but not least is my brother. My brother Mike keeps me grounded. He has lived up to his role as the little brother very well. If I'm getting to big headed he is the one who puts me back in my place. All in all, he can be a lot of fun and I like having him around. I have learned a great deal from him as well (...but don't tell him that :) ).
I could really go on and on about the rest of my family and how they have helped me along the way, because they all have in some way or another. When it comes down to it my family makes me happy and proud to be who I am and that is a wonderful feeling to have.
