Why Play?
Complies with California State Standards for Mathematics
- 1.3 Round whole numbers through the millions to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, or hundred thousand.
- 3.1 Demonstrate an understanding of, and the ability to use, standard algorithms for the addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers.
How to Play:
- Open the link: Math Loop-Around game
- Print the game on cardstock paper and cut out each card (laminate optional)
- Pass out cards to each student randomly, each student should have one (if there is more than enough, some students can have two. If there are not enough two students can share on card.
- The game starts by picking one student to read their card out loud to the rest of the class. For example: "I have 16! Who has 16 divided by 4?"
- Students look at their cards, and the student with the corresponding number responds with the statement on the card "I have 4!" Then this student reads the question on his/her card "Who has this number plus 6?" and the game continues.
- When the question goes back to the first person, the game is finished.
- Students may switch cards and play again!
