The following link shares two different games (20 cards each) One game fits in with the 2nd grade math standards and the second game of 20 cards fits in with the early ELD English standards for ELL students.
This is a great game to play with the whole class!
1. Hand out one card to each child. On each card is a patterned phrase. The first sentence begins: "I have..." The second sentence begins: "Who has..."
2. Choose one student to begin reading his card.
*For the Math game, children must complete the computation in their heads. Once they figure out the answer, the student with the correct answer reads his response and the following question.
*For the ELD vocabulary game, children must translate the word in Spanish into English to figure out the answer. The student with the correct English word for the Spanish word spoken reads his response and the following question.
3. The game continues with children reading the appropriate answer and the next question until the game loops back around to the first student's answer.
4. Mix the cards up and redistribute them to play again!
