My Student Teaching Placement

My student teaching placement from August 2006 through March 2007 was at Gretchen Higgins Elementary School. During this time, I student taught in Jennifer Hermon's first grade classroom. This was a wonderful experience for me, and I learned so much about the individual needs of students, using assessment to drive instruction, and creating a positive and safe classroom environment.  On a daily basis, I implemented the Houghton Mifflin Curriculum through using a variety of instuctional methods. Likewise, I participated in weekly planning, adminstered weekly and quarterly assessments, and led students in guided reading and writing groups.
