Loop-around meets state standards

Loop-around is a game that students can play as early finishers or incorporated into a math center.

Grade Two

California State Standards:

2.3 Use mental arithmetic to find the sum or difference of two two-digit numbers.

Directions for Loop-around:

There are 40 cards which should be cut out, and laminated.

`

Each student should receive two cards or this game can be played with another classroom and each student would receive one card.  Once all the cards are distributed, have one student begin solving the problem on the card.  For example, if a card reads, "I have 15.  Who has10 less than this number?"  The student starting the game would find that 10 less than 15 is 5.  Therefore, the second person to solve the problem on their card would be number 5. The game will continue until the last card "loops-around" to the first number that was calculated.

Enjoy!
