I was born and raised in Pleasant Hill, California. Growing up I participated in a variety of different clubs and organizations, but was especially involved with softball and band. I attended Diablo Valley College for two years where I played softball and earned my A.A. degree. To finish up my undergraduate education I transferred to the University of California at Davis. While doing my undergraduate work I was president of the American Red Cross Club and played (and still am playing) softball for the UC Davis club team. I was also able to have a variety of different internships working with children. I worked with special needs kids and was a mentor for underprivileged children in Sacramento. I was also able to intern in a variety of different classrooms in Davis and Woodland which helped solidify my desire to become a teacher. In 2006 I graduated from UC Davis with high honors, earning a B.S. in Human Development and a minor in education. Currently I am pursuing my multiple subject teaching credential through the UC Davis School of education. My long term Student teaching placement was at Whitehead elementary school, in Woodland. At Whitehead I taught in a kindergarten/first grade combination class and loved working with children at that age level! Through this position I learned how to meet the diverse needs of individual students and was able to build successful relationships with students, parents, and school faculty. My short term student teaching placement is working with a wonderful group of third graders at Tremont Elementary, in Dixon. |
