About Me
SHOES
"I have never let my schooling interfere with my education." - Mark Twain

I am from San Diego, California and went on to UC Davis to earn my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Education.  I am currently enrolled at UC Davis's School of Education's Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Masters of Education program.

My father was born in Los Angeles and joined the military at the age of 18.  Through the Navy he was able to go to college and earn his Bachelor's Degree.  After he retired from the Navy he went on to earn his Single Subject Teaching Credential and Masters in Education.  He currently lives in Imperial, CA and teaches U.S. and World History in El Centro, CA at Wilson Jr. High.

My mother migrated to California from Mexicali, Baja California.  She and her husband live in Wrightwood, CA where they have a beautiful house.  She owns a beauty salon, in which most of its employees and clientele speak Spanish or are bilingual, in Palmdale, CA.  She has owned the salon for almost 15 years and she has, until recently, been instructing at a beauty school located in Lancaster, CA.  She will be opening a new salon in the Spring of 2007.

I have two older brothers, Wally 26 and Edwin 25.  The oldest, Wally, currently has a little girl, Mena 3, and now has a baby boy, Valentine, born in mid-March 2007.  He works as an accountant.  My other brother, Edwin, is a US Marine currently located in Mississippi and has 4 children:  Logan 7, Diane 6, Rowan 5 and Vivien 2.  He hopes to earn his Bachelor's with the help of the military.

Why BCLAD?:
I decided to become a bilingual teacher because I see it as something that is of great need in California.  My mother has always expressed to me the importance of learning and maintaining my Spanish.  From a young age I acted as a translater in her salon and in other places while with her or her husband.  Because of this I felt it was important that a teacher have the skills to better communicate with either their native Spanish speaking students or their family.

Once I earn my teaching credential I hope to return to Southern California to teach.
