08/06-03/07: 3rd Grade Classroom with resident teacher Linda Flood This setting was ideal because I was exposed to a classroom with a variety of abilities, primarily students all below grade level. At the same time, more than half of the class was comprised of English Learners. I was able to become highly involved within the classroom. I taught all subjects, as well as ran a low level EL reading group. Eventually I was even planning and creating my own materials to use with them. I became familiarized with the Language for Learning program and ran the instruction. In addition, I got to go on fieldtrips and attend school events, such as the 3rd Grade Winter Musical, Sports Night, and Back to School Night. 04/07-05/07: Kindergarten Classroom with resident teachers Mr. & Mrs. Rosenfield I just started this placement, but am extremely pleased and excited about it. Working with this couple actually allows me to see all three of the Kindergarten classrooms on site. I work with their morning and afternoon classes, but I also get to run stations in the other class next door too. So far, I've been able to see just what young children can do when you set very high expectations. More to come... |
