Loop-Around Game



Grade Level:    Kindergarten

 
Standards:
   California Department of Education, Mathematics Content Standards.

1.0 Number Sense: Students understand the relationships between numbers and quantities
 (i.e., that a set of objects has the same number of objects in different situations regardless of its position or arrangement):

1.1 Compare two or more sets of objects (up to 10 objects in each group)
and identify which set is equal to, more than, or less than the other.


1.2  Count, recognize, represent, name , and order a number of objects (up to 30).


1.3 Know that the larger numbers describe sets with more  objects in them than the smaller numbers have.


Description:

This is a fun whole class activity in which students can actively engage in mental math.
Three  standards (as noted above) are met in this game designed for twenty students.
There are two sets of twenty cards; both sets meet the number sense standards for the kinder grade level.



Instructions:   
                    
1.  Click on the links below.
2.  Print out games (cardstock recommended).
3.  Cut out each card. If possible, laminate.
4.  Select a set/game to play. Each student will recieve one card. If there are less than 20 students in the class, 
     one or more students may have two cards so that all 20 in a set are distributed.
5.  Instruct students to review their cards so that they may be prepared to participate!
6.  One student begins by reading the question (ie. "I have 6 who has **** more).
7.   Students look at their cards, the student with the answer, 4, will then read their question.
8.   The game continues until all cards have been read/ all students have participated.
