| Hi, my name is Jessica
Gilbert. I grew up in Napa, California where I went through
public schooling from kindergarten through 5th grade. Along the
way I had so many wonderful teachers, but it was my 4th grade teacher
who made the biggest impact on me wanting to go into education.
She had such a passion for teaching and sparked my curiousity to want
to always be learning. My childhood was filled with Girl
Scouts, camps, horses, and playing pretend teacher. I was educated in a private school setting from 6th through 12th grades. I was challenged everyday by teachers who saw my potential and to them I am forever grateful. I attended the University of Oregon where I graduated in December 2006 with a Bachelor's of Science in Education and a minor in Special Education. I was a member of the Educational Foundations Student Advisory Board and Mentor Program. I also coached and rode for the University of Oregon Equestrian Team. I am now in the Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Program at UC Davis and am student teaching in a 3rd grade classroom at Valley Oak Elementary here in Davis. Caring teachers, wonderful memories, and friendships are what made me want to become a teacher. I hope to bring those same experiences to my students. The most important things in my life are my family, friends, education, and horseback riding. I traveled around the world with National Geographic from April to May 2007 and had some of the most amazing experiences! I enjoy being outdoors camping, swimming, hiking, cycling, and golfing. Please feel free to contact me with any questions! I'm looking forward to a wonderful year of learning! |
