Loop around is a game for
students to practice
their mental math skills.
No pencil or paper required!
Just print out
this link, cut out the cards, give one to each student, and play!

How do we play?
There are 40 cards on 10 pages. Print and cut the 40
cards. If you use thick paper or lamenate them they will last for
a
long time!
- Distribute
all 40 cards amongst the class. Some students may need to take
two cards.
- Start
with asking which student has the card that says, "I have 16."
- Ask the
student to read the problem on the card.
- Whatever
student has the answer reads their card.
- The
game continues as such until it Loops Around back to the numbe

What
do students need to know to play?
- This game has been
made for a class at an advanced 5th Grade level. It would be a
great game to use toward the end of the year.
- Students will need
to already have learned
- Adding and
subtracting positive and negative numbers.
- Multiplying and
dividing
- Fractions
- Percentages
- Exponents

What California
State Standards are covered?
5th Grade Number Sense:
- Standard 1.2- Interpret
percents as a part of a hundred; find decimal and percent equivalents
for common fractions and explain why they represent the same value; compute a given percent of a whole
number.
- Standard 1.4- Determine
the prime factor of all numbers through 50 and write the numbers
as the product of their prime factors using exponents to show multiples
of a factor.
- Standard 2.1- Add,
subtract, multiply and divide with decimals; add with negative
integers; subtract positive integers from negative integers; and verify
the reasonableness of the results.
