About
Me
I was born August 29, 1985. My parents' third attempt to have a girl
had failed. They would try again several years later. They wound up
with four boys, five years apart. My brothers are now spread out across
the country persuing careers ranging from law to writing to medicine.
I grew up in the small town of Durham, California.
Durham is a farming community several miles south of Chico, California.
I attended school with the same 100 or so kids from kindergarten
through my senior year of high school. This had its benefits and
drawbacks. This was good because everybody in Durham knew one another.
This was bad because everyone in Durham knew one another. Regardless, I
loved growing up in Durham. I love the small town atmosphere and
I think the north valley is beautiful.
I wound up in Davis because I didn't know what else
I should do after graduating high school. I loved northern California
and I didn't want to stay in Durham, so UC Davis was my logical choice.
I absolutely love Davis. It has a small town feel, but it is big enough
to not get bored. At UC Davis I joined a fraternity and I started
writing for the school paper. I enjoyed my time at UC Davis and I was
happy to prolong it in the credential program.
For work during school I began babysitting a ten
year old boy and his three year old brother. This was when I began to
consider teaching. I like kids and they seem to like me. Additionally,
both of my parents are teachers and I grew up watching their lives as
teachers. They always seemed happy and they had summers off.
Throughout my life I've been a sports fanatic. I am
an avid Giants fan and I follow the Forty-Niners as well. I played
football and baseball in high school and I still play softball with a
team of friends.
My other favorite hobby is music. I play the guitar,
the drums and I'm teaching myself to play the piano. I've played in
several garage bands and I'm looking to form another soon. I'm
listening to new music constantly and my ipod is one of my favorite
possessions.
I love going to the movies, I recently traveled to
South Africa and I enjoy crossword puzzles. I'm a hard worker and I
look forward to getting started in the classroom.
