Recomendation for Parents
 This book is a great colorful book that would spark childrens' interest.  This book is a great emergent book to introduce to your children.  They can easily memorize the book that allows them to feel that they are readers.  Parents not only can read to their children but also can sing it to them. 


Recomentation for Other Teachers
It's a great way to introduce mulitcultural to your classroom and how we are similar because we all share this wonderful world. 


Personal Note
I observed a first grade teacher read this book to them as her/his opening. When the teacher read the book she sang it and also sang it in sign language.  The teacher taught the children how to sing the song in sign language.

This is a great book to introduce African American culture to your children.

It is a great way to discuss African American culture in your class.  This book will give history and context for the social and artistic qualities of African American oral poetry and the importance of African American hair. The book demonstrates the beauties in different cultures, especially African Americans.  If you have childeren who are African American it is a good way to relate to them and have them share about their culture.

This book shows religion, epic poetry, and beautiful illustrations.  This book represents a great celebration of African American Hair.
