About Me

What makes a teacher the best they can be?

Growing up I always heard heartfelt debates at family gatherings over the saying “Those who do can, those who can’t teach.” About one half of my family are or were teachers, while the other half worked in the world of cutthroat business. My teaching philosophy stems from the antithesis of that very statement. I believe that teaching is a square formed by the teacher, students, parents, and community. This square cannot be complete without the support of each of these equal and vital parts.

The first and most important piece of my teaching philosophy is how I would like to run my classroom. My goal as a teacher is to create a student centered environment for children to learn through investigations, thoughtful discussions and even trial and error. A teacher can be a facilitator of these practices, but does not have to be the only voice heard in a classroom. All of my students' voices should be heard on a daily basis with positive reinforcement for sharing their thoughts .
