and communication tools. |
The
seminar is
organized to engage students in conversations about their student
teaching experiences as related to the Standards of Quality and
Effectiveness for Professional Teacher Preparation and Programs and the
wider arena of teaching. Throughout the quarter, student teachers will
meet either as a large group, small supervisor-based groups, or
individually with supervisors. In the spring quarter, students
complete their Performance Assessment for California Teachers (PACT)
under the guidance of their assigned supervisor and with the assistance
of course instructors. |
Lecture/discussion--2
hours; fieldwork--9-48 hours. Prerequisite:
acceptance into a teacher education program. Supervised teaching in
regular classrooms in elementary schools. Selection and organization of
teaching materials. Introduction to techniques of diagnosing school
achievement of children. Current conceptions of
elementary school curriculum, emphasis on contributions from the
social, biological, and physical sciences. Emphasis on effective
teaching methods. |
