Philosophy Statement |
| Education does not begin or end in
the classroom with a teacher. The foundation of learning rests on
the family. Before a student enters a class for the first time, and then daily, the student brings experience and knowledge based upon their family values. These are essential to the classroom as they play an integral part in the learning style and development of the student. The community the student is exposed to plays an important function in how the student views the world and in which they receive support. |
|
| By having a postive outlook on life
and learninig the teacher creates an infections atmosphere of
excitement and curiosity. Teachers have a tremendous amount of
responsibility both to the children and community to teach children how
to be caring members of society. The world at teacher provides
for studnets to explore can be full of wonder and mystery. A
teacher has the capabilites to increase student's self-esteem and help
to successfully accomplish the goals set forth by the teacher. |
|
| A teacher needs to be encouraging
and provide guidance in a constructive manner as to not damage the
self-esteem or self-worth of the individual. A teacher needs to
be able to coordinate lesson plans in such a way that appeals to all
learning styles. It is essential for a teacher to provide an
active learning environment that encourages students to invent their
own strategies to make sense of each concept being taught. |
|
| I believe that the role a teacher
plays in a student's lives is one that supports the individual learning
style and unique personality of each student. The classroom
environment created by the teacher must be one that promotes individual
expression and learning through a variety of means. |
|
| To best educate students a teacher
must respect what the student knows and to see potential in their
weaknesses. The model of a hard working classroom community is
essential in order to uphold the appropriate education for each
student. Having students respect the levels of learning in each
classmate will promote the notion of learning from their peers. |
|
| Educating young people is more than
the academic schedule designed at the beginning of each year.
Teachers need to be accepting of students, providing guidance and
structure while remaining a member of the classroom community. I
believe strongly in creating a positive atmosphere as a student's
perception on school, learning, and their education is shaped by the
teachers they have. |
|
| Every student has the equal right to
a fair education; what that means to me is that the educational
environment in which the students attend should be safe and
welcoming. Learning struggles should be approached with
understanding and patience. Above all, the learning process
should be one in which the student feels excitement, interest, and
proud of their accomplishments and discoveries. |
