Past I
was born and raised in Shafter, a small town in the heart of
California’s beautiful Central Valley. Not
only was I a part of a loving, encouraging family, but
a supportive
community as well. As a child, I enjoyed
simple things like playing with my brothers, being read to by my
parents, and
making crafts. By the age of nine I
visited
35 of the 50 United States. After two
summers of trekking across the country, I decided Texas was the second
best state,
Renoir was my favorite impressionist and Thomas Jefferson had a cool
mansion. In school, I enjoyed learning math,
participating in the science fair, marching in the band and telling
people I would be the first woman president. I attended the University of California, Davis where I earned
my degree in Spanish with a minor in Education. During my
time as an undergraduate, I had the opportunity to study in Costa
Rica and travel across Europe. In 2005, I moved across the world to become an Oral English Teacher at SIAS International University in Xinzheng, Henan, China. |

Present I have returned to UC Davis to participate in the Multiple
Subject Credential/M.A. Program. I am student teaching under
Molly McNeil at Tremont Elementary in Dixon, California. I believe a well-rounded learner learns all around. I
learn from teachers, books, observation, advice, discussions and
experience. I enjoy visiting different places, both familiar and
unfamiliar, cooking yummy food for health and comfort, exercising to
feel good, cheering for the Dodgers, reading for knowledge and
pleasure, studying languages, and spending quality time with family and
friends. |

Future The Chinese say, "活到老,学到老"
[huo dao lao, xue dao lao], which means,
"Live until you are old and study until you are old." In
otherwords, study as long as you live.
As I become a teacher, I will continue my personal pursuit of lifelong
learning while hoping to spark an enthusiasm in my students' natural
curiosity and encouraging them to face challenges knowing many
opportunities await. |
