I have been fortunate enough to know that over the course of my life that I have always been drawn into teaching. As far back as I can remember, working with others has always been part of my life. Whether I was tutoring, volunteering, babysitting, helping friends, or even just spending time with my family, I have always enjoyed being around other people.

When I entered junior high school, I entered a program called PALS, in which I became a mentor for an elementary school student. I think this was my first real close work with a teacher, and a student, outside of my own classroom, and I was hooked. This experience set me out on a path that has now brought me to where I am today.

I think of myself as a hardworking, responsible, motivated, and caring person. These qualities have been instilled in my by my parents. Some people would never guess this, but I actually grew up moving all over the country. I have lived in five different states, and have had the oppurtunity to travel to Canada, Europe, and Korea. These experiences have broadened my perspectives on the nature of human beings.

In addition to traveling, I love to always be involved with children in some aspect. I find children to be absolutely fascinating. My expereinces working in traditional classroom settings and non-traditional settings range from pre-schoool to high school including; classroom internships, volunteer work, observation research, tutoring, babysitting, nanny, mentor, and advisor. I had a wonderful three month intership in a special edcuation classroom at Davis High School, which broaded my awareness and strengthened my interest in, pursuing special education further down the road.

I am currently doing my student teaching in a sixth grade classroom, in Woodland, with some wonderful and unique students and a great mentor teacher.

Last but not least, most of my free time not spent traveling or working in a classroom, is usually spent out shopping, going to the movies, or spending time with my close friends. I also love getting coffee, grabbing a good book, and just relaxing.
