As a prospective educator, I believe that it is extremely important to establish a relationship between the teacher, the student, the family, and the community. By establishing strong relationships, the student will have a highly supported learning environment. This learning environment will help the student learn effectively not only in the classroom, but outside of the classroom as well. There are many opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom, and I highly encourage them. I also believe that it is essential for me to learn about each of my students. By understanding each student and his/her abilities, I can better adjust my teaching style in order to complement and optimize each student’s learning. In my classroom, I believe in providing my students with all of the tools that will help them develop their self-confidence and self-esteem. I highly encourage all of my students to become responsible and accountable for their own performance which will help prepare them for their future. I want my students to not only improve as my student, but improve as they grow each year through the desire to learn. Through my teaching; I hope to bring the desire to learn to my students. By bringing out the student’s desire to learn and providing them with tools that will help them develop their self-esteem and self-confidence, this will allow them to become self-sufficient learners. As a teacher, I will not only teach the students, but I will facilitate the students teaching each other. I believe that this is highly essential in the classroom because by helping each other in cooperative group work it teaches the students to take initiative and enhance leadership skills which both contribute to the students becoming responsible, self-sufficient learners. I believe in learning to take initiative because as students learn more and develop subjects that they are passionate about, the initiative to explore more about the subject can be made. I would love to see students take the initiative to learn more about a subject or subjects that they are passionate about. This is what truly brings out the desire to learn. I believe that students’ optimal learning happens when students are having fun, enjoying the subject and relating what they are learning to their own lives. Most of all, my classroom will be a
safe environment for students. I believe that my classroom is a safe
haven
where students can feel comfortable enough to express any concerns,
questions
or ideas without feeling distressed or let down. All ideas, questions,
or
concerns are important to me and should all be taken seriously in my
classroom.
If the student takes time to share something with me, it will not be
overlooked. The most important aspect of the teacher-student
relationship is
respect, trust, and comfort. Therefore,
I will assure that the relationship I have with students will include
respect,
trust and comfort. This will be established through clear guidelines
and
constant communication between the students and |
