Just a Dream Book

Summary
Just a Dream is a book about a young boy, Walter who imagines that the future is full of wonderful things such as robots and other amazing inventions. Walter is not very conscious of the environment. One night, he wishes that he can visit the future. That night, his wish comes true! He visits the future and it is not as perfect as he imagined it. When he returns from his adventure, Walter is not happy with what he saw and he is changed. What does Walter see that changes him and makes him so unhappy?

Recommendation for Parents
I highly recommend reading this book to young children. It is a great book that takes children on an adventure about what happens in the future if we don't take care of our environment. The story is interesting and the pictures go well with the story. It allows students to let their imaginations go. This story is a great way to introduce children to conservation and sustainability.

Recommendation for Other Teachers
This book is good to read to students in 3rd-6th grade. Reading this book aloud is a good way to lead into a conservation unit or a unit about earth and our environment. The book has vivid pictures that will allow students to look back and see what could have been done to prevent the things in the picture. The story also includes some ways we can help. These ideas can easily be implemented in a classroom.

Personal Note
Reading this book as a child has motivated me to help in conserving our environment. I enjoyed this book because it took me on an extremely interesting adventure. There are many books out there on conservation but none like this. This book provides reasons and consequences as to why we need to help. This is a great book!

Recommendation for Parents
The Princess and the Beggar is a lovely story to read to younger children. This story is a great way to motivate students to do well. It also teaches children that it's okay to cry and that appearance and titles do not determine who people are and what skills they acquire. The illustrations are colorful and beautiful. It helps tell the story very well.

Recommendation for Other Teachers
This book is great to read aloud to students in 1st-4th grade. It is good to read this story if there are students who may be picked on either in the classroom or on the playground. The story has great lessons. It teaches students that it's okay to look or be titled a certain way because they can still acquire great skills and abilities. The story also teaches student that determination will allow them to do well in anything they please.

Personal Note

This was a wonderful book. It has great lessons for all children. It teaches children not to assume things about others based on their appearance. Everyone's abilties are not determined by their title or by the way they look. It also teaches that it is okay to cry and that crying shouldn't be made fun of. When I was young, I really enjoyed the book. I still do.
