ABOUT ME
I
am from Toyota Prius envy,
From a five-minute walk to my high school
But sometimes still drove.
I am from blue skies and forests
And taking all that for granted.
I am from grand pianos and guitars
And PCs but slowly leaning towards Macs.
I am from the dorks
The middle ground
The uniquely banal.
I am from good grades but not perfect,
And “we will support you no matter what”.
I am from self-denial and similar motivation,
And “Because college is what you do after high school”.
I am from the richest county in California
But also one of the most liberal.
I’m from the land of milk and honey
But also from the church of having-to-repeat-everything-three-times
Because of that trinity thing.
I’m from vanity, arrogance, promiscuity,
But only half-believing in the Zodiac anyways.
I’m from “let’s learn Spanish ‘cuz it’d be useful”
But secretly liking French better because it sounds pretty.
From “most likely to marry a trophy wife”
And still being bitter about that.
I’m from a lack of uniqueness but still feeling special.
And if you really knew me, you’d know that
What a fool believes, he sees,
And what seems to be is always better than nothing.
