Welcome! This site contains information about homework assignments, policies and helpful links. ![]() ![]() ![]() Fractals The pictures on this site are computer gencrated Factals. Most objects in nature aren't formed of squares or triangles, but of more complicated geometric figures. Many natural objects - ferns, coastlines, broccoli, etc. - are shaped like fractals. A fractal is an object or quantity that displays self-similarity, in a somewhat technical sense, on all scales. The object need not exhibit exactly the same structure at all scales, but the same "type" of structures must appear on all scales. Animation of zooming into a fractal. See the Wikipedia article or another fun site by Cynthia Lyanius Most of the fractals in this web page were taken from Wikipedia's fractal page. |
